** For reference, the lawn I am cutting includes a front and back (no sides) of a duplex. The front is smaller (maybe 30ft x 15ft with an incline) and the back is a little larger (maybe 30ft x 45/50ft). **Pros:- Initial assembly was easy and the guide was very clear on how to piece it all together (but more on this in Cons)- Super light weight. We carry it up a flight of stairs from basement to outside. Can easily be carried, with or without mower base attached, in one hand.- Smooth when turning or changing directions. Just be careful not to angle it up (back wheels down) so you don't put pressure on the grass beneath and cut too short. It takes a little time to get used to using one hand, similar to a vacuum, but it's fine after a couple uses and not a problem.- The mower cuts our lawn quite well. it has a couple adjustments for different heights and overall, the cuts are even and clean. The trimmer and edger modes are excellent as well and work as expected.- The 3-in-1 aspect is great (for our use). Being able to quickly and easily snap off the lower base is a breeze. To go from trimmer to edger, you just rotate the handle in the corresponding direction. The physical mower has directions and guides printed directly on the mower parts (base, handle, grip, etc.) so you can easily see what you need to do to transform it.- Inclusion of batteries and charger (which can be used to charge any battery that fits the input) is appreciated.Cons:- The battery life - or lack of one - is the biggest issue with this mower. This is a sign, as the mower comes with two 20v batteries. The batteries take about 4+ hours to charge fully and on my first time cutting the lawn, I went through both batteries and couldn't get through half the backyard. Part of this was that areas of the lawn were a bit longer and strain the mower/battery more, but to have both batteries dead within 20 mins each is poor build quality and design. Over time, we have gotten quicker and now the batteries will last for the front and back lawns, but I think is the area where the mower needs some of the most improvement. Bigger battery = more weight sure, but it also means less time stopping while cutting to charge the batteries.- Handle is not comfortable or intuitive at all. In order to use it, you must push in and hold a trigger. It isn't in any of the directions for this, but you can lock the trigger in place with a small sliding lock. Sounds nice....but you have to then hold that lock in place. So you are going from one frying pan, into another frying pan. I am not sure why there isn't just a way to hold the trigger, lock it in, and that's it. Your hand will get a little sore and uncomfortable from this.- I mentioned the assembly quality above - that it was and clear how to put it together. This is true. The problem with the assembly, however, occurred when transitioning from mower to trimmer or to edger. While it is easy to go from one style to another, the quality of it has diminished over the few months I've had it. When snapping the mower to the main unit, it used to have a strong, firm grip and would audibly cue that you've snapped it into place. Now, it doesn't make any noise and I barely feel the locking mechanisms going into place. In addition, the main unit raises up a little from the base when lifting to turn - this did not occur initially. In addition, the handle will slightly move left or right when turning. This shouldn't be happening, as when I first got it and it's locked in position, there was no rotation of the main unit. Now, when I turn I can feel the main unit slightly moving out of place and then I have to push it back intothe center.- The price (We payed around $120 at time of purchase) would be understandable if 1. The build was exceptionally better and 2. The batteries were stronger than lasting 20-30 mins each. The corded version is significantly cheaper, but of course, not as convenient. With the current battery and build issue, it's hard to recommend spending also $40-60 more for the convenience. If this mower was closer to the corded price, then I could live with those issues as I've paid significantly less for it. But for now, it's way too expensive for the low quality.I want to recommend this for people with smaller lawns. Again, we can not get ours done more efficiently, but the battery life is still a challenge. Anyone expecting a strong build quality, especially from Black and Decker, will be disappointed. The change in quality over the past months has definitely lowered my opinion of the mower. While I do appreciate the 3-in-1 and ease of use, the other issues are worth taking into consideration before making a purchase. I have come to accept the quality and issues it has, so I'm less irritated by them. My advice is that you possibly go with the corded version so you don't worry about batteries dying or pick up a couple more to keep charged and on rotation. I would also wear some padded gloves to offset the uncomfortable handle. If I could do 2.5 stars, I would.Works great for getting into tight spots your mower won’t reach. I use it to trim areas I couldn’t get to with my riding mower. 2 reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars. The trimmer comes detached from the deck too easy & the battery life is kinda short. But it does come with 2 batteries & considering 1 good lithium battery can cost as much as this entire product, I’d say it’s still a good deal.I found a fully charged battery last about 10-15min (depending on how tall the grass is). I can trim the tight spots in my front or back yard with 1 fully charged battery, so the 2 batteries it came with is perfect for my needs.Just keep in mind, this is not a mower. It is a trimmer with a deck to aid in keeping your trim work nice and level. Don’t buy this as a mower and expect to mower your whole lot, that’s not what this is intended for. There's always sumthun.ok.We have riding mowers. We have push mowers. We have weed whackers. The gas tools sit too long and won't start. The gas tools are too noisy. The gas tools are too heavy., etc.The other battery powered stuff - weed whacker, trimmers, etc. - are never charged - won't hold a charge. The batteries don't last long enough. The larger capacity Amp/Hour batteries are too heavy...You may have noticed a trend. So, the spouse eyes this thing - whilst surfing the net....Kind of a - Fisher Price - cross between a kids bubble lawn mower and a weed whacker.Ergo, she had to have it....Cuz, it was her idea = it works great.Sure it's yet another set of batteries and chargers.Undoubtedly, it will stop holding a charge + the charger will die + the battery will get lost in the pile of incompatible batteries. For now, it works. It works the way she wanted it to work.It resolved the last set of issues that she had been complaining about.Just a matter of time - the clock is ticking - on the yet to be discovered - Flaw.Till then - the grass is getting cut and the tool is getting used. It's a great and easy to use Weed Eater. However, the mower attachment is not good if you like to have higher manicured grass. The highest mower attachment level still cuts the grass very low. Besides this issue, I absolutely love it as a Weed Eater! Love having two batteries to easily switch out while working (just make sure to keep both fully charged). Took off one star for the mower setting issue.I have had one of these for 2 years. I have about 3 acres to mow and feels like miles to trim. Very uneven ground, rocks, dips & blackberry vines. I would be lost without it so purchasing another 'just in case'. My son uses a gas beast for lower meadow and I use a cordless mower for upper and front. This little machine saves my back and my mower in the really difficult areas. You DO generally have to use a vacuuming motion when going over tall grass. I find it almost relaxing because there is no back strain as there is with a regular whipper snipper. For really tall grass/weeds I use a hungry hungry hippo maneuver and it chews through it wonderfully. The battery charge lasts about 15 minutes and it comes with two. Cons: the wheeled base and the whipper hood do retain a lot of smushed grass but any handy little stick will clear it and I need to sit once in a while anyway. I use this almost everyday from spring to late fall. Sturdy thing. (4 stars all the way because frankly, I don't believe 5 star reviews)I am a retired grounds-keeper/landscaper/gardener 1974-2019 - My weed eater and I were inseparable; but muscle pain memory took its toll... this "weed eater on wheels" is IDEAL. As a light weight mower and weed eater. The grass above was over a foot, I cut it in half swaths, took no time. I did the entire area on one charge of the battery... that would do a regular lawn many times over.Ladies this is for YOU... whatever age! Retired or not both men and woman can appreciate this easy mower task.Oh... and your neighbors won't mind you out there at 6 am cutting your grass !Works great around shrubs and difficult areas. I never had any problems with it on first use. The battery stood up better than I expected. It cut through grass taller than I should have allowed. My wife wants to use it too. I think I'll let her. :)Be careful unpacking. The batteries are in their own box but it might get dropped while grabbing stuff out of the big box. Dropping is 'bad' for Lithium Ion batteries. If you have anything but a SMALL yard, and intend for this to be your principle lawnmower, better think again. The batteries don't last long enough, and the cutting circumference isn't large enough for this product to be truly effective for even two medium-sized yards (assuming front and back). That being said, this product is fantastic in many ways. It is lightweight, maneuverable and extremely versatile. It transforms from a mini-mower to a weed-whacker and back again in seconds, without having to bend down. Just quick-release the mower housing with the durable foot-pedal and whack away, then snap it right back in with ease. I have a gas mower that I use for most of my lawn, front and back, but this little guy gets into all the hard to reach places and is great for little touch-ups and mowing over dandelions and other pesky things that grow faster than your grass. It's also nice to know that you've got a back-up plan in case your primary lawnmower breaks down. This little mower could now large lawns, it would just take a lot longer, and require more battery charges. So if you do decide to use this mower as your main machine with a bigger property, consider buying more batteries and a charger that can charge multiple batteries at once. With enough batteries and time, this diminutive machine could cut a golf course I am sure. If you have a tiny lawn, then you must have this tiny mower. It is super convenient and is surprisingly powerful. Just keep both your batteries charged all the time, and you'll love it.It does everything it claims to do. Five stars.
